Sarah Hyams, DMD
Regional Director, Region 15-16

Sarah Hyams, DMD, was elected the regional director of Region 15-16 at the November 2018 House of Delegates conference. Her constituency includes Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. She has served as co-chair of continuing education for the Quebec AGD since June 2016 and has also worked in conjunction with the executive committee of the Ontario AGD. Hyams was motivated to volunteer as an AGD leader because she wanted to assist her local chapter in offering more courses. She has been an AGD member since 2009.

As regional director, Hyams hopes to assist other local AGD leaders in recruiting more speakers who offer quality continuing education and growing the membership base. She encourages other members to become proactive as leaders, since it is an excellent professional networking opportunity and it offers the opportunity to be an advocate for one's profession.

Hyams obtained her DMD in 2004 from the Université de Montréal after completing a BSc (microbiology and immunology) and M.Sc (dental sciences) from McGill University. She practices general dentistry in the Montreal region. In her spare time, she enjoys dabbling in various hobbies — she plays the violin and mandolin and also enjoys writing and sculpture. She has served on the executive committee of the McGill Toastmasters Club (vice president of public relations and co-vice president of membership) and is currently a member of the Beyond Words Advanced Toastmasters Club
