House Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee Examines Dental Care Legislation

The House Veterans' Affairs Committee's Health Subcommittee held a legislative hearing on September 11th, to consider twelve pieces of legislation related to health policy across the VA system. One of the proposals under consideration was the VET CARE Act (H.R. 2628) sponsored by Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL). Rep. Bilirakis spoke to the need and importance of the legislation to study the potential overall healthcare cost savings of providing dental service to veterans through the VA.
 
Impact on General Dentistry: The AGD has endorsed the Vet Care Act of 2019 is working closely with sponsors of legislation to generate additional cosponsors and build support for the proposal.
