PACE Guidelines Changes

Changes to the PACE Standards and Criteria were recently approved by the AGD Board. Here is a summary of those changes: 

PACE Standard XI: Course Records

  • Paper, faxed and emailed course rosters will no longer be accepted. Effective Jan. 1, 2017, providers were notified that they must use AGD’s online roster to submit CE hours earned by AGD members. Providers must be logged onto the AGD website to access the online roster. Effective Sept. 1, 2019, AGD will only accept course rosters submitted through the online form. Organizations familiar with API processes should contact AGD for a more streamlined method of submitting AGD members’ rosters to AGD. For more information, contact
  • AGD has removed all references to minimum and maximum course  lengths.This allows providers to award CE credit for completion of courses of any length.This change is in keeping with current practices when developing educational opportunities for adult learners. Studies have shown that the optimal length of course time varies greatly among adult learners. Most educational experts agree that the optimal length is the amount of time for the average participant to understand the educational objectives of the course.Therefore, it is the responsibility of each provider and its planning committee to identify clear learning objectives and lengths of time for the average attendee to understand the concepts.
  • The PACE Standards no longer specifically recommend that electronic scanning devices be used to collect participant information at the end of each educational activity.This language was identified as being too prescriptive. Providers have an obligation to maintain accurate records of each participant’s attendance. However, each provider should determine the specific processes used to best meet this obligation within its own organization.
