The AGD has developed a new section of the AGD COVID-19 website to provide members with the most current credible vaccine information available. As of early December 2020, two companies have filed for emergency use authorization (EUA): Pfizer and Moderna.
On December 1, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) prioritized health care workers and long-term care (LTC) residents as 1a and should be given COVID-19 vaccines after Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issues EUAs.

Impact on General Dentistry: General dentists are included as health care workers to receive some of the initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccines. States and localities will determine allocations of the COVID-19 vaccines as they will be limited on the initial roll-out. Final distribution plans are due back to the CDC by December 4. State Interim Jurisdictional COVID-19 Vaccination Playbook Draft Executive Summaries are located here. Another resources that AGD members may find useful is From the Factory to the Front Line: Operation Warp Speed Strategy for Distributing a COVID-19 Vaccine.
