In 2005, AGD began requiring PACE-approved program providers to submit CE credits for all AGD members directly to AGD. As of Jan. 1, 2017, providers were notified that they must use AGD’s online roster to submit CE hours earned by AGD members to AGD.

Effective Jan. 1, 2020, the application fee for national PACE approval will be $755, and the AGD National Approval Maintenance Fee will be $300.

PACE standards are designed to help continuing dental education providers follow best practices when planning and implementing dental education programs. Adhering to PACE standards will help providers offer quality dental education courses.

The AGD PACE Council recently updated the PACE definition of “Commercial Interest/Commercial Entity” in the PACE Lexicon of Terms found in the PACE Guidelines. This is the current definition:

PACE is designed to help continuing dental education organizations deliver quality educational courses to dental professionals. AGD knows this can be a daunting mission, especially for organizations just starting to build their programs, which is why AGD has a number of tools available to approved providers that will help them manage their programs.

The Academy of General Dentistry’s (AGD’s) House of Delegates recently installed new officers during its annual meeting, held in Chicago, Nov. 8–10. Connie L. White, DDS, FAGD, a general dentist from Kansas City, Missouri, was named president.

Michael A. Gordon, DDS, MAGD, received his DDS from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1989. He joined AGD in his senior year of dental school.

On July 27, 2019, the Tennessee AGD board passed a motion to help both Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry (MMC) in Nashville and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry (UT) in Memphis with their expanded functions dental assistant (EFDA) programs.
