This year, as we celebrate U.S. presidents, AGD gives special recognition to President Truman for his contributions to improving the oral health of the public.

AGD recently submitted comments to the U.S. Surgeon General regarding the anticipated 2020 Surgeon General’s Report on oral health, pledging support for efforts to revisit oral health in the U.S. and proposing areas of content for inclusion in the report.

Did you know that oral cancer is the sixth deadliest cancer in the United States? 51,540 people have been diagnosed with oral cancer in the U.S. 70 percent of oral cancers are found in the late stages, and, over the last nine years, the incidence of oral cancer has been on the rise.

Where did the year go? With the start of the new year, now is the perfect time to take stock of 2018’s accomplishments and challenges, to look back over the year and assess what worked, what didn’t work, and what we could have done differently.
