AGD has been invited to review and formally support the Standards for Leadership in Oral Health Care, an initiative developed by the American College of Dentists to establish a framework for leadership across the oral health profession.

More than 200 AGD members were recognized for earning Fellowship (FAGD), Mastership (MAGD), and Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR), distinctions that represent years of dedication to continuing education, professional growth and service to others.

AGD has named Dr. Jeffrey P. Okeson as the 2026 recipient of the Dr. Thaddeus V. Weclew Award, the organization’s highest honor recognizing excellence in dental education. Okeson is recognized for his ability to translate complex concepts into practical clinical knowledge that dentists can apply immediately in patient care.

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is an asymptomatic benign tumor typically observed as a well-circumscribed, teardrop-shaped radiolucency containing an embedded tooth. While the lesion most commonly affects maxillary canines in younger females, the May/June issue of General Dentistry reports two atypical cases associated with impacted premolars.

AGD is working to address the most pressing issues faced by our members as we advocate to government entities for general dentists.

AGD recently signed a letter with 17 other members of the Organized Dental Coalition (ODC) to support S. 4008, the Promoting Dental Health Act. The bill reauthorizes the U.S. Centers for Disease Control Oral Health programs through fiscal year 2031 and strengthens oral health infrastructure nationwide while supporting the vital role of general dentists in improve overall health outcomes.

Dentists don’t have short careers; they can easily be in business for 30, 40 or even 50 years. Because of this, every dentist should be able to create multigenerational wealth and a life by design.

AGD recently presented its Student Chapter of the Year award to Texas A&M College of Dentistry, Faculty Advisor of the Year to Mai-Ly Duong, DMD, MAGD, and Residency Program Director of the Year to Russ Bergman, DMD.

Digital dentistry has transformed prosthodontics. Intraoral scanning, CBCT imaging and 3D printing have made prosthetics easier to design and create and are becoming the standard of care. But what’s on the cutting edge in this field — and what’s beyond?
