Dentists seeking information about the COVID-19 vaccination status of their patients may be able to access that data through their state’s immunization information systems (IIS). While information is maintained at the state level, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website provides
contacts for IIS immunization records to make it easier for healthcare providers to identify the appropriate state agency and contact for sourcing that information. Dentists should be aware that each state may require different levels of training for access and that there may be some limitations in accessing records of individuals who were vaccinated in different states. Additional restrictions may also be in place.
