Chicago, IL (October 25, 2020) – The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) recently elected Hans Guter, DDS, FAGD, as the vice president during its Annual Meeting on October 25, held virtually this year due to COVID-19. Guter has been a member of the AGD since 1991 and has served in many leadership roles.
Guter’s service started with his constituency, the Ohio AGD, serving as Membership chair for four years, Mastership chair for 12 years and ultimately serving as president for two years. He has served as an alternate delegate and delegate for his region since 1997. His service continued on a national level, serving two terms as regional director for AGD’s Region 7, and had recently completed his second term as Region 7’s trustee. He has served on numerous councils and task forces, including the Leadership Development Symposium, Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE) Council, Scientific Meeting Council and the Dental Student Task Force.
“Like most leaders of any organization, I’d like to see more growth in our services to members and expand the opportunities for them to become more involved,” said Guter. I want to work with the other members of the board in building and stabilizing our corporate partnerships and increasing our advocacy efforts in order to influence favorable legislative outcomes to benefit our members and the industry.”
Guter graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1989. He received his Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Ohio State and, after dental school, completed his advanced education in general dentistry residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He has maintained a private practice in Circleville, Ohio, since 1990. He has fellowships from the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American College of Dentistry, the Academy of Dentistry International and the International College of Dentistry. Guter has also been an active leader within the American Dental Association (ADA) on all three levels.
Guter is involved locally in his community with the Knights of Columbus and Rotary Club. He has also been instrumental as the Give Kids a Smile chairman for his county. He and his wife, Kathy, have three successful adult children. In his spare time, Guter enjoys triathlons, golfing and wind therapy on his Harley.
