Description
The goal of this lecture is to provide an understanding in the diagnosis and treatment planning of tooth resorption. It will compare and contrast the four main types of resorption. At the end of the lecture, the participant will be prepared to detect the various types of resorption and to inform their patient of the treatment options available.
Learning Objectives
- Compare and contrast the different radiographic presentations of resorption.
- Understand the pathophysiology and treatment options for dental resorption.
- Understand how and when to treat dental resorption.
- Be able to treatment plan and sequence these types of resorptive defects.
- Compare and contrast the options for implant placement versus resorption repair.
Speaker Bio
Lt. Col. Jared Mason, DDS, is a board-certified endodontist and program director for the AFPDS endodontic residency, teaches at the UTHSCA endodontic residency, and is the consultant for the U.S. Air Force Endo Corps. He graduated from Indiana Dental School in 2010, completed a general practice residency in 2011, practiced for four years as a general dentist and earned his endodontic certificate in 2017. He has been published and has presented more than 50 lectures across the United States and Europe. He was named the AFPDS New Educator of the Year in 2025 and the Air Force Medical Services Dental Educator of the Year in 2026.
