In Florida, SB 1498 was introduced and referred to the Health and Human Services Subcommittee.  The bill seeks to establish dental therapists in the state, and authorize them to perform numerous procedures under the general supervision of a dentist.  A dental therapist House bill, HB 683, was also introduced last month.

In California, last year’s budget bill included full restoration of adult dental benefits for enrollees in Denti-Cal.  The benefits took effect on January 1, 2018, and quick reference guide for adult benefits can be viewed in a special bulletin issued by the California Department of Health Care Services.
