Representatives Filemon Vela (D-TX-34) and Lance Gooden (R-TX-05) recently introduced H.R. 7671, the Small Business Comeback Act, to help save American businesses as they are once again being asked to close their doors to help slow the spread of COVID-19. AGD joined America’s Recovery Fund Coalition (ARFC), who was vital in advocating for this legislation and obtaining bill sponsors, in a letter to Representatives Vela and Gooden expressing our endorsement and appreciation.

H.R. 7671 will establish a Recovery Fund so America’s businesses can retain and rehire staff, pay rent, adapt to new regulations and requirements, and pay their state and local taxes – in turn, getting our country back up and running. As the only organization of ARFC representing oral health care, the AGD applauds the introduction of the Small Business Comeback Act and recently sent out an Action Alert for members to contact their members of Congress.

Impact on General Dentistry: The AGD joined the ARFC to advocate for an alternative and more flexible federal funding mechanism, while recognizing that funding programs like PPP and EIDL loans were not suitable for all AGD members. We are pleased with the legislation and its goal to prioritize small businesses, which could assist many dental practices during this time.
