At the Summer 2017 meeting of the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) proposed revisions to the Definition of Terms of the Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education were introduced.

Specifically, the changes seek to include dental hygiene diagnosis and treatment planning in dental hygiene curriculums.

The AGD Dental Practice Council is currently reviewing the proposed changes and will provide comments to CODA. The proposed changes can be viewed here.

In California, SB 1148 is set for a hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee on May 25, 2018. The bill seeks to authorize dentists to receive reimbursement through Medi-Cal for silver diamine fluoride dental caries treatment.
