With Congress currently in its August district work period, lawmakers are back in their home states and districts meeting with constituents and participating in local events. This creates a valuable opportunity for AGD members to engage directly with their senators and representatives at town halls and other public events. By sharing their expertise and highlighting issues that affect oral health care and the dental profession, AGD members can help build relationships with policymakers and ensure their voices are heard as Congress prepares to return to Washington.

Individual House and Senate member websites often maintain an events page where local constituent events may be found. AGD members are encouraged to monitor these opportunities and participate when possible. The AGD Federal Affairs team is available to help with any engagement and advocacy efforts.

Impact on General Dentistry: With Congress in its August district work period, AGD members have a valuable opportunity to meet with their senators and representatives at town halls and local events to discuss issues affecting dentistry, including access to care, workforce challenges, reimbursement, and policies impacting dental practices and patients. Engaging directly with policymakers helps elevate the importance of oral health, strengthen relationships with elected officials, and ensure the concerns of dentists are heard as Congress prepares to return to Washington.
