On Nov. 21, 2019, a grand opening celebration was held at the new 7,000-square-foot Oregon AGD Foundation Center in Tigard, Oregon, where dignitaries, media representatives and sponsors were able to tour the completed facility. The 12-operatory dental clinic as well as the accompanying lecture hall and administrative offices are designed to provide charitable and humanitarian care as well as attract excellent dental educators to present hands-on instruction.

“We have set ourselves apart with this facility in order to offer the highest quality service to the community and education to our members as well as to form strong relationships with our strategic partners,” said Laura Seurynck, RDH, MS, executive director of the Oregon AGD.

“It will be the combination of these stakeholders and our member dentists that will fuel the hands-on portions of our classes, and it will be our local community that benefits when they participate in these programs,” noted Oregon AGD President Martha E. Rich, DMD, FAGD. The mission of the Oregon AGD Foundation Center is to be “Where Service Meets Lifelong Learning.”

Attracting sponsors and stakeholders required an exhaustive and coordinated approach over the last 24 months, but the effort has paid off handsomely, with 6 major sponsors each exceeding $100,000 and more than 16 named donors each exceeding $10,000.

During the gala, Seurynck was awarded the Bernie Taylor Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her “extraordinary and selfless service to AGD” and her dedication and effectiveness in the planning and buildout of the facility.
