The Virginia Academy of General Dentistry hosted its 30th Annual Conference, Nov. 30 to Dec. 1 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Richmond – Midlothian.

The meeting’s headliner, Gordon Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD, presented to a room of 125 doctors and staff. The mood in the room was festive, celebratory and energetic. Doctors from all over the state reconnected with colleagues, welcomed new members and listened in awe to one of the most prominent speakers in dentistry. Christensen captivated an attentive crowd with his message in support of AGD membership. “I am proud to present to you today, because Fellows and Masters of AGD are on the top of the iceberg of dentistry,” he said. “I wish every dentist would do a residency program and become a member of the AGD.”

Following the course, attendees were invited to a reception sponsored by Opus Wealth Strategies LLC, and Goodman Allen Donnelly. With the support of its 15+ sponsors, the Virginia AGD was able to offer Christensen’s course as well as a free half-day risk management course for members the following morning.

The Virginia AGD also used this celebratory event as an opportunity to honor 2018 FAGD and MAGD award recipients by offering complimentary registration. These doctors — as well as Virginia AGD dentists boasting 10, 20 and 30 years of membership — could find their names in the meeting program or in signage around the room. Member doctors sported name badges with their join date. In front of over 80 members, the 2019 Virginia AGD board members took an oath of office for the coming year.

Thanks to two years of planning by the Virginia AGD CE team and a strong show from this year’s sponsors. Virginia AGD was honored to celebrate 30 years by welcoming Christensen to Virginia.
