AGD recently signed a letter with 17 other members of the Organized Dental Coalition (ODC) to support S. 4008, the Promoting Dental Health Act. The bill reauthorizes the U.S. Centers for Disease Control Oral Health programs through fiscal year 2031 and strengthens oral health infrastructure nationwide while supporting the vital role of general dentists in improve overall health outcomes.

S. 4008 also provides grants to states for proven prevention efforts, including school-based dental sealant programs, community water fluoridation, oral health surveillance and data tracking, and evidence-based initiatives to reduce cavities and gum disease.

AGD supports S. 4008, the Promoting Dental Health Act, because it is:

• Prevention-Focused: Aligns with our core mission by stopping dental disease before costly treatment is needed.
• Improves Access: Targets underserved, rural, and low-income communities, helping more patients receive care.
• Benefits General Dentists: Creates healthier patient populations so we can focus on comprehensive care rather than emergencies.
• Smart Investment: Bipartisan, cost-effective public health measure with strong track record.
