As co-founder of ORAL Dental Studio in New York City, Hieu Pham, DDS, has built a practice that blends cutting-edge technology with inclusivity, artistry and genuine human connection.
“When we founded ORAL Dental Studio, our vision was to modernize the dental experience and create the kind of practice we’d want for ourselves, our family and our friends,” Pham said.
That philosophy comes to life through thoughtful design, advanced digital tools and a personal approach to care. From 3D imaging that enhances patient education to an environment crafted for comfort, every detail reflects his belief that design and environment play a major role in the patient experience.
“When we combine advanced tools with a space that feels open, inclusive and calming, we can transform the way people think about going to the dentist,” Pham said.
Before founding his practice, Pham taught at the New York University College of Dentistry and practiced in underserved communities. These experiences continue to shape his leadership and patient philosophy.
“I learned that you have to listen first and understand each patient’s story before ever picking up an instrument,” he said.
Pham advocates for representation and equity in dentistry, working with organizations such as the Asian American Dental Society and LGBTQ+ health initiatives.
“Representation matters because it builds trust,” Pham said. “When patients see providers who understand their backgrounds, it creates a sense of safety and connection.”
Pham’s partner at ORAL Dental Studio, Robert Hannah, DDS, nominated Pham as one of this year’s 10 Dentists to Watch.
“When I think about the future of dentistry, I see it reflected in the qualities and leadership of Dr. Hieu Pham,” Hannah said. “Dr. Pham represents the rare balance of clinician, leader and innovator.”
Looking ahead, Pham hopes to continue “pushing the boundaries of what a dental practice can be,” one that’s not only innovative and design-driven, but also profoundly human.
