Chicago, IL (November 14, 2022) - The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is pleased to announce the recent installation of Chethan Chetty, DDS, MAGD, a general dentist for Eagle Rock, California, as vice president during its Annual Meeting Chicago. Chetty is a second-generation dentist with many years of service devoted to the field of dentistry and the AGD.

“As a second-generation dentist, AGD member, leader and spouse of an AGD constituent executive, I consider AGD to be my family,” said Chetty.  “I have been fortunate to serve AGD through my many years of council work, as council chair and at the organization’s House of Delegates. These roles have given me incredible experience and perspective. I have a clear understanding of where we have been and where our organization needs to go in order to stay relevant to our members”

Chetty graduated from the University of Southern California Ostrow School of Dentistry in 2000. He joined the family practice with his father, R.K. Chetty, DDS, with whom he practiced for 20 years. During that time, while maintaining the practice philosophy and culture, he grew the practice to include multiple associates, hygienists and specialists.

Chetty began his services as an AGD leader when he was invited to serve on the AGD Communications Council. In his seven years on this council, he was involved in many significant projects, such as social media, digital publications and streamlining communications. In 2017, Chetty joined the Membership Council, of which he would eventually become chair. During this time, he worked closely with leaders at all levels to implement new membership initiatives that established a cohesive membership strategy.

After several years of being a member of the California AGD, Chetty joined the Southern California AGD board in 2003 and continues to be an active leader. In those nearly 20 years, Chetty has served as president of the Southern California AGD twice and as California AGD president in 2016. He also served as California AGD MasterTrack assistant director from 2015 to 2019. He helped transform the California MasterTrack program into one of the most comprehensive MasterTrack programs in AGD. He was instrumental in establishing its Pathway to Fellowship program to help encourage new dentists to attain their AGD Fellowship and eventually Mastership.
