Year-End Review: Looking Back at 2018

Where did the year go? With the start of the new year, now is the perfect time to take stock of 2018’s accomplishments and challenges, to look back over the year and assess what worked, what didn’t work, and what we could have done differently.

Who should publish a year-end review? All constituencies! A year-end report gives you the opportunity to look back on the year with pride and satisfaction. Successful organizations consistently demonstrate and communicate value and benefit to members. Show your members what AGD is doing with their dues dollars. Showcasing your successes can also be a useful tool in attracting new members.

Simply put, you can’t afford not to publish a year-end review. Your annual report helps to promote AGD and speaks volumes about the organization.

Tips for Constituency Year-End Reviews
These simple steps will give your members a synopsis of your constituency’s accomplishments and what they can look forward to in the coming year. Constituencies should consider publishing a year-end review of their activities at the end of each year (via the constituency newsletter or website). A traditional year-end review should contain the following:

  1. A cover letter, signed by the constituency president or other elected officer, addressed to the constituency members.
  2. A succinct, easy-to-understand description of the organization.
  3. A summary of the constituency’s accomplishments or goals achieved during the year.
  4. A section that identifies any issues or concerns and any resolutions that members should know about.
  5. A section that outlines goals, programs and meetings for the upcoming year and other information that members need to know. This should come from the constituency president.
