Additive Manufacturing: 3D Printing to Augment Your Chairside Scanner

Description

Many people that own a scanner think of it only as a tool for fabrication of chairside restorations through subtractive technology. This course will take a look into different kinds of 3D printing technology, resins, and programs to deliver a variety of additive manufacturing products to your digital dental workflow.

Learning Objectives
 

• Recognize different types of 3D printers and compare/contrast their benefits.
• Understand the file types DXD, STL, OBJ, and PLY and be able to apply this to different file export options.
• Identify the usage of different classifications of dental 3D printing resin.

Speaker Bio
  
Michael Kroll, DMD, MS, ABGD, FAGD, FACD, FICD, studied biomedical sciences at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. He joined the U.S. Army in 2007 as a second lieutenant in the Army Medical Command and attended Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine as a reserve officer where he graduated with distinction earning membership into Omicron Kappa Upsilon. His military experience includes a Residency in Comprehensive Dentistry, Master’s degree in Oral Biology from the Uniform Service University School of Health Sciences, five years as the director and assistant director of an Army Advanced Education Residency program, a faculty appointment into the Uniformed Services University, Deputy Consultant to the Surgeon General, and consultant for Digital Dentistry for the U.S. Army. He is board certified by the American Board of General Dentistry, a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a fellow of the American College of Dentists, and a fellow of the International College of Dentists.
