Apr. 12, 2021 at 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

John C Comisi, DDS, MAGD
Associate Professor - Medical University of South Carolina - College of Dental Medicine

Course Description:

Nearly one in four adult patients that sat in your chair today has a sleep-related breathing disorder. Did you know that you can help them, and even save their lives?

There is a huge unmet need in your dental practice, and as dentist you are able to spot some of the airway symptoms before anyone else. Did you know that one of the leading treatment options for sleep apnea are oral appliances, and only dentists can provide them?

Treatment of sleep disorders is one of the fastest growing fields of medicine and recent developments have put dentists on the front line. With Obstructive Sleep Apnea reaching epidemic levels in our society, you have a unique opportunity to save the lives of those suffering while adding a valuable service in your practice.

During this presentation we will:

  1. Discuss the signs and symptoms for Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders in Men, Women and Children.
  2. Discuss the need for medical and dental collaboration in managing patients with this disorder.
  3. Discuss why the ADA House has adopted a policy statement on dentists becoming involved with the treatment of patients with Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders.
