Academy of General Dentistry Celebrates Excellence in Education and Service

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) proudly recognized the extraordinary achievements of general dentists from across North America during its premier scientific session, held in Montréal, QC, July 9-12, 2025. This year, AGD awarded 376 with its prestigious Fellowship and Mastership awards, and Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition.

“We are thrilled to honor this year's MAGD, FAGD, and LLSR recipients for their remarkable commitment to the field of dentistry and to lifelong learning,” said Chethan Chetty, DDS, MAGD, AGD president. “Each of these professionals has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to advancing the dental profession and enhancing patient care through continued education and service. It is our honor to celebrate their achievements.”

Here’s a brief overview of each recognition:

MAGD Recipients:

A total of 75 dedicated general dentists earned the Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) designation. The MAGD is awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional skill and commitment to continuing education in the 16 disciplines of dentistry. Nearly 4,175 of AGD’s members have received this distinction, demonstrating their commitment to their patients goes above and beyond basic requirements.

FAGD Recipients:

AGD celebrated 260 general dentists who were awarded the Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) designation. The FAGD is one of the most recognized and prestigious awards in general dentistry, presented to professionals who have completed a comprehensive continuing education program focused on clinical dentistry. Since the inception of the FAGD designation, more than 20,225 AGD members have received their FAGD.

LLSR Recipients:

The AGD honored 40 individuals with the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR) this year. This distinction is given to those who have exhibited exceptional commitment to lifelong learning and a passion for service throughout their dental careers.
