Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has proclaimed May 3–9 as Drinking Water Week, highlighting the importance of safe drinking water in protecting public health. Melodie Jones, DMD, president of the Alabama AGD, attended the signing on behalf of Alabama AGD and the Oral Health Coalition of Alabama.

The proclamation reflects ongoing collaboration among dental professionals, public health leaders and state officials to promote the benefits of community water systems, including water fluoridation, in improving oral health outcomes. Alabama AGD continues to support initiatives that advance oral and overall health through education, advocacy and strategic partnerships. AGD commends these collaborative efforts and remains committed to advancing policies that support prevention, access and long-term health.
