Combined Prostheses After Oral Cancer Treatment

Treatment of head and neck cancer can leave patients with extensive orofacial defects that are psychologically and socially harmful. In the March/April issue of General Dentistry, Felizardo et al describe rehabilitative treatment of a patient after resection of a maxillary tumor. A multidisciplinary team designed intraoral and extraoral prostheses connected by magnets to restore esthetics and function, fostering the patient’s social reintegration.
