A new literature review in General Dentistry explores the potential of developing AI systems to optimize diagnosis and treatment planning across all areas of dentistry. Despite capability limitations and ethical considerations that must be addressed before the technology is adopted widely, successes already have been demonstrated in detecting caries and disease and analyzing images for orthodontic treatment planning, implant placement or extractions.
