Description

The clinical practice of dental caries removal has changed significantly in the last hundred years. Advances in adhesive dentistry and a better understanding of oral microbiology have led to a radical shift in caries removal, which has allowed dental professionals to be more conservative with healthy tooth structure, in turn saving chair time, expenses and, most importantly, ideal dental function for patients. This course, based on current dental literature, is designed to give practical clinical tips on utilizing the selective caries removal technique as well as its indications and contraindications.

Learning Objectives

  • To understand indications and contraindications of selective caries removal
  • To understand appropriate and inappropriate pulp capping materials
  • To be able to effectively perform the selective caries removal technique from start to finish
