The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) have joined forces to produce a collaborative November/December 2025 issue of General Dentistry, AGD’s peer-reviewed clinical journal.

This special collaborative issue features three articles contributed by AAE members that focus on evidence-based endodontic practices, advancing interdisciplinary understanding between general dentists and endodontic specialists. The remaining articles in the issue, authored by other contributors, explore clinical advancements and research across the broader spectrum of general dentistry.

The AAE contributed articles include:

  • “Cracked teeth with radicular extension: and update on restorative procedures for endodontically treated deeply cracked teeth”
  • “Beyond the apex: anatomical risk assessment to prevent extrusion injuries in endodontics”
  • “Coronal seal in endodontics: a critical but forgotten element”

The issue also includes an article submitted directly to AGD:

  • “Failures and successes of vital pulp therapy in an undergraduate dental clinic”

“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to advancing clinical knowledge and promoting best practices that improve patient care,” said Chethan Chetty, DDS, MAGD, president of AGD. “We are proud to partner with AAE in publishing an issue that bridges specialties and underscores the importance of continuous learning.”

The special issue exemplifies AGD’s ongoing mission to support lifelong learning and professional excellence while fostering collaboration within the dental community. Both organizations anticipate that this partnership will encourage greater interdisciplinary dialogue and inspire future joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the connection between general practitioners and dental specialists.

“This special collaborative issue between the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Association of Endodontists highlights that shared commitment to tooth preservation, said Steven J. Katz, DDS, MS, president of AAE.  “As colleagues in oral health, we recognize that endodontic specialty care does not stand apart from general dentistry; it is an integral part of it.”

The November/December issue of General Dentistry is now available online and in print for AGD members and subscribers at www.agd.org
