More than 430 AGD members are being honored this week as new AGD Fellows, Masters and recipients of the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition.

Since 1962, AGD has honored more than 17,000 Fellows, 3,500 Masters and 300 Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition recipients. This is a very impressive and distinguished group of AGD members.

AGD President Connie L. White, DDS, FAGD said, “In order to receive the AGD Fellowship Award, members passed the Fellowship Exam and completed 500 hours of approved continuing education (CE). Others took their achievements even further by completing 1,100 hours in approved CE to become a Master. And then there is another group that went even further, applying their skills to community service and education to be recognized with the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition. I am so proud of all of these members for their commitment to the profession and their ongoing education.”

Though AGD2020 was held online due to COVID-19, AGD leaders felt a virtual recognition could not fully convey the importance of these distinctions. Recipients were given the option to accept their awards via mail this year and attend a future Convocation Ceremony.

“The Convocation Ceremony is one of my favorite AGD events,” said White. “Not only is it the culmination of everything you’ve worked up to, but it is also a starting a point for your life’s goals beyond. It gives you the opportunity to springboard to the next phase of your life and the wonderful things that you will achieve. It is really a celebration of you and all that you have accomplished. It is so exciting to see everyone’s faces and the faces of their families who look on with pride. It gives each one of us an opportunity to think about what we will do next, and, to me, this is the lifeblood of our Academy and what makes it so great.”
