Dennis B. Hartlieb, DDS
Course Type: Live Virtual Hands-on Workshop
Subject: 780 Esthetics/Cosmetic Dentistry
Credits: 2.0
Thursday, March 9: 7–9 p.m. CST
Audience: Dentists
Fee: $425 (nonmembers); $285 (members)

Description
The participants will learn a step-by-step application of direct resin for fractured anterior teeth. The appropriate preparation techniques for fractured incisors to help camouflage the restoration and maximize retention will be reviewed and practiced. Concepts to create and use a customized lingual incisal matrix will be used in the hands-on exercise. Using opaquing techniques and a combination of appropriate hybrid, nanofilled and microfilled composites, participants will overcome the problem of “shine-through” commonly seen with direct bonded restorations. A predictable, uncomplicated technique to restore fractured anterior teeth will be taught in this hands-on program.

Learning Objectives

• Learn bevel design and layering techniques to create invisible Class IV restorations.
• Learn how and when to use opaquers to create natural-looking restorations.
• Learn the importance of microfill composites for ultimate esthetics in freehand bonding.
• Master a systematic approach using microhybrid nanofilled composites, opaquers, tints and microfills to create natural, beautiful and predictable anterior direct resin restorations.
