Description

Infection control practices are critical elements of any dental office.  The prevention of the spread of diseases from staff to patients, from patients to staff and from patient to patient or staff member to staff member is why every infection prevention protocol, procedure and intervention is important. These procedures must be carried out in detail without shortcutting the steps that break the chain of infection.

Understand the new normal in a post COVID-19 dental practice.

Understand appropriate cleaning, removal of debris and microorganisms and appropriate disinfection strategies, including disinfection agents, contact time and staff protection during use.

Speaker Biographies 
Gerald “Gerry” J. Botko, DMD, MS, MAGD, vice president of AGD, has lectured at AGD scientific sessions, led several webinars, authored articles for AGD Impact and served as national speaker for AGD. He also serves as an article reviewer for The Journal of Dental Education. His leadership roles at AGD include being a member of the Program Approval for Continuing Education Council; president of the Veteran Administration AGD; Region 17 regional director; Region 17 trustee; president of the AGD Foundation Board; member of the Communications Council; and as division coordinator for the Public and Professional Relations Division and Advocacy-Representation Division. A graduate of the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM), Botko served in the U.S. Air Force after receiving a scholarship for dental school. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was deployed twice, retiring with the rank of colonel. He was a consultant for the Indian Health Service in Crown Point, New Mexico.
