Leadership is a multifaceted, dynamic, everchanging phenomenon that comes from our culture, background, belief systems, geographic location, and even generation. With 5 generations in the workforce, more than 50% of graduating dental student being women, and an increasingly diverse population; the definition of leadership must evolve to meet the current status of the workplace. The journey to leadership that meets the requirements of today begins with an inward look at self. applying the concept of Western’s Locating Self and leadership metaphor will be a focus of this course in preparation for AGD’s Annual Meeting.

Learning Objectives:

• Outline a personal leadership narrative based on Locating Self
• Define a roadmap for a personal leadership metaphor
• Assess the role of higher order personality traits and triggers
• Examine bias in the workplace
