Meeting and course registration will open on January 25, so it’s time to start planning your continuing education schedule for Orlando! Popular courses tend to fill up quickly, so we encourage you to get a head start and take a look at the current course listings being offered. This list will continue to be updated, so check back frequently for updates.

Below are a few of the educational highlights you can expect at AGD2022:

Harvey Levy, DMD, MAGD, FACD, FICD
Special Patient Care

Gain the knowledge and skills to treat patients whose behaviors are difficult to manage in the course series, “Treatment for All Patients With Anxiety or Special Needs.” Discussion will include cases involving medically compromised or mentally challenged patients — from the apprehensive to the combative, from infancy to old age, in-office or elsewhere.

Dania Tamimi, DDS, DMSc
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

This lecture series aims to simplify the imaging modality in the diagnosis of internal derangement and degenerative joint disease of the TMJ. The entire spectrum of internal derangement, disc displacements and degenerative joint disease will be explained through graphics, and MRI and CBCT findings will be examined to help dentists understand the process of TMJ breakdown.

Richard Baxter, DMD, MS
Oral Medicine, Oral Diagnosis, Oral Pathology

Baxter’s lecture and hands-on workshop titled, “Tongue-Tie Update: How Oral Restrictions Impact Feeding, Speech and Sleep Across the Lifespan,” will provide clarity on the real issues a restricted tongue can cause over time. Dentists are well positioned to screen for, diagnose and treat, or refer these patients. The course series will include a thorough review of the literature, analysis of more than a dozen clinical cases encompassing all ages, diagnostic criteria, assessment and treatment techniques, including practicing with the LightScalpel CO2 laser on pig jaws.

Susan Muller, DMD, MS
Oral Cancer Education

Susan Muller, DMD, MS, will present two three-hour lecture sessions on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of oral growths. In “Distinguishing the Benign From the Deadly: Oral Pathology Update,” oral changes associated with cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, marijuana and vaping will be illustrated. The differences in presentation between oropharyngeal carcinoma and oral cavity cancer will also be covered. In “Red, White, Brown, Blue and Ulcerative Lesions. What Are They? How to Treat?” Muller will share her approach to diagnosis and treatment of common oral conditions, including lichen planus, geographic tongue and candidiasis. Both courses will emphasize the clinical presentation of oral dysplasias or early cancer.
