Crest Symposium for Dental Hygienists
In order to provide meaningful care for your patients, you have to start with education. This includes education not only for yourself, but for your dental hygienists as well. If you work closely with dental hygienists to meet patients’ oral health needs, it’s important they receive the best training available.
At AGD2019, we are excited to have the Crest Symposium dedicated to dental hygienists. On Friday, July 19, Crest Oral-B will be sponsoring three separate courses focusing on oral medicine, oral diagnosis and oral pathology.

Dental professionals find themselves practicing in a marketplace awash in direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs and in the midst of an explosion of new drug entities. Thus, many dental professionals may find it challenging to stay up to date on the latest prescribing trends in disease state management. This program will provide an overview of frequently prescribed brand name medications whose actions, side effects, contraindications and potential drug interactions may have the greatest impact on dental therapy
You, Oral Health, Chronic Disease and the New Guidelines
Friday, July 19 at 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Course Type: Lecture
Credits: 3
Course Description
Oral bacteria have been correlated with a host of systemic diseases, including heart disease and diabetes, as well as many other chronic illnesses. By committing to an interdisciplinary approach to care, we can be key stakeholders in facilitating our patients' journeys to whole-body health. Attendees will explore the history of the oral-systemic link as well as periodontal disease and the mechanism of action for the association to chronic systemic illness. This course includes a review of the literature concerning the oral-systemic link and how to communicate those findings to our patients to facilitate whole-body health. Using each member of the dental team to educate the patient will also be discussed.
