AGD Convocation Ceremony and Celebration

2022 Convocation Information

Congratulations! We are honored to have the opportunity to recognize your extraordinary dedication to general dentistry. It is time to celebrate at the Academy of General Dentistry’s AGD2022 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Fl. All awardees and LLSR recipients must confirm if they will attend the 2022 Convocation ceremony by May 31, 2022. 

Links to reply forms were emailed to all awardees and LLSR recipients in April.  If you are eligible to participate in the 2022 Convocation ceremony and did not receive an email from the AGD providing you a link to a reply form, please email so it can be resent.

Meeting Registration and Hotel Information

General meeting registration is complimentary and required for all awardees and LLSR recipients. General registration secures your place at Keynote Speaker Session and the President’s Welcome Reception on Thursday, July 28, access to the exhibit hall and to all scientific e-poster presentations. 

Note: AGD has a new registration system. To receive complimentary registration, 2022 and 2020 awardees and LLSR recipients MUST use the specific registration link emailed to them in April. If you did not receive this link, please email for it to be sent. 

During registration you will be asked why you are attending AGD2022. 

  • All FAGDs and MAGDs please choose the response I will receive the Fellowship or Mastership Award 
  • All LLSRs please choose the response I will receive the Lifelong Learning & Service Recognition (LLSR)

Selecting the appropriate response will ensure that you will not be charged the registration fee. If you need assistance registering, please contact our Meetings Department at

Cap and Gown Orders (Fellows and Masters Only)

The website for all FAGDs and MAGDs to reserve caps and gowns for the Convocation ceremony is available now. Awardees must order Convocation regalia by May 31, 2022, to prevent additional shipping charges. The link to reserve caps and gowns was emailed to all awardees in April.  If you did not receive this link, please email so that it can be resent.

Note: LLSR recipient do not wear caps and gowns.  LLSR recipients should dress in business attire to accept their pin and honor stole onstage. 

Cap and Gown Pickup

All Fellows and Masters can pick their regalia at the Rosen Shingle Creek, Level 1, Gatlin Foyer, Friday, July 29 from 7:30am to 6:30pm and Saturday, July 30, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Convocation Rehearsal

Rehearsal will be Saturday, July 30, at 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. at Rosen Shingle Creek, Level 1, Gatlin AB Ballroom. Doors will open at 3:15 p.m. Please be prompt, as rehearsal time is short. The Convocation ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Fellows and Masters must bring their cap and gown to the rehearsal. You WILL NOT have time to pick it up after rehearsal. You will receive your seat assignment for the Convocation ceremony approximately two weeks before the meeting in the mail and via e-mail. Please make sure we have a valid e-mail for you to prevent delay. Contact the AGD at if you do not receive this information by July 15, 2022.

Convocation Ceremony

The Convocation ceremony will be on Saturday, July 30, at 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rosen Shingle Creek Level 1, Gatlin AB.  The Convocation ceremony is open to all registrants and guests.  Tickets are not required. Doors will open at 4:15 p.m. for general guest seating.

Note: At this time there are no limitations on the number of guests who can attend the Convocation ceremony. Should the U.S. experience a surge in COVID-19 there could be local regulations that would limit the capacity allowed in the ballroom. Should this occur, the AGD will notify Convocation participants as soon as possible. 

Helpful Hints for Convocation

  • Wear comfortable clothing. Suit jackets or heavy clothing will be uncomfortable under your robe.
  • Eat before you arrive for rehearsal. You will not have an opportunity to eat before the ceremony.
  • Come to rehearsal in your cap and gown. Please dispose of the bag and hanger holding your robe prior to arriving. 
  • Do not bring excess belongings, such as a briefcase, laptops, etc., to the ceremony as there is no space to store such items.

The AGD photographer will take photos of all awardees as they cross the stage. Family members may take photos from their seats; Please remind your family members that they will not be allowed to enter the aisles or approach the stage to take pictures.

Guests at the Convocation Ceremony

Guests attending only the Convocation ceremony are NOT required to register for AGD2022 or the Convocation ceremony. Doors to Gatlin AB Ballroom, located on level 1, will open at 4:15 p.m. for general guest seating. There will be ample seating for all guests in the ballroom.  Please encourage your guests to arrive no more than ten minutes before the doors are scheduled to open.  Guests will not be allowed in Gatlin AB Ballroom during the rehearsal. 

Convocation Celebration

Immediately following the Convocation ceremony, head over to the to the Panzacola Ballroom on level 1 of Rosen Creek Shingle to join AGD leaders and members, along with families and friends, for an entertaining reception following the Convocation ceremony. This ticketed event will feature hors d’oeuvres, soft drinks, and live entertainment. All ages are welcome, but tickets are required for each guest. Awardees must register to receive their complimentary ticket. Additional tickets can be purchased at $145 for adults and $50 for youth (ages 3-12) with your meeting registration. Each ticketed adult over age 21 will receive two drink tickets. Cash bars will also be available. 

Celebration and drink tickets will be included with your registration. Wristbands will be required to enter the celebration. Wristbands must be picked up prior to the event at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Level 1, registration area, during registration hours (see Meeting Registration & Hotel Information above).

Attention all Fellows: Find out the next steps to achieving Mastership in the AGD
Congratulations on achieving 500-plus hours of continuing education! If there is one thing you have learned, is you cannot stop now! That is why AGD encourages you to attend the Mastership: Getting There session that will be held Friday July 29 at 4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. at Rosen Shingle Creek, Level 2, St. John’s 22. During this session, you will receive the most current information about Mastership requirements, how to track your progress on your AGD Award Transcript and local MasterTrack programs. This session is free, but registration is required.

AGD2022 Meeting Schedule

To ensure you do not miss any important Convocation-related activities, we recommend that you keep your Saturday free. However, we encourage you to take advantage of the exceptional continuing education (CE) programs and events available on Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. Registration for CE courses are going fast so register soon!

Photos for Convocation Slideshow

You are invited to submit photos of you and your family or of you and your staff so they can be included in a slideshow shown before and after the Convocation ceremony. Send up to four photos in JPEG format to by July 15, 2022.  Please label photos by your last name, first initial and number. Example SmithJ_1, SmithJ_2, etc.

Convocation Portraits

Awardees and LLSR recipients, and their families are invited to have a formal portrait taken at the AGD2022 Photo Studio. This is an ideal time to update your professional head shot or have a formal portrait in your cap and gown. An on-stage photo of you with AGD President, Gerald J. Botko, DMD, MAGD will be available for purchase approximately two weeks after the ceremony.

The photo studio is conveniently located in Rosen Shingle Creek, Level 2, Suwannee 21 and has available appointments on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Click here to schedule your appointment today. Sample caps, gowns, ribbons, and pins will be available in the studio, so you do not need to bring you caps and gowns with you.

Regional Group Photos

Many regions have scheduled times for group photos on Saturday, July 30. Please contact your regional director or constituent executive if you have not received information regarding group photos for your region. You should arrive for your group photo dressed in your cap and gown. Extra caps and gowns will not be available for group photos. 

AGD Foundation Activities

Oral Cancer Screenings
To raise awareness of oral cancer, the AGD Foundation will host free oral cancer screenings for registered AGD2022 attendees, exhibitors, and employees of our host hotel, Rosen Creek Shingle Resort. The Oral Cancer Screening event takes place on Friday July 29,2022. Walk-ins are welcome; however, appointment help gauge patient flow throughout the day. Click here to sign-up. Electronic Silent Auction Fundraiser
A major part of the AGD Foundation’s fundraising efforts includes the AGD Foundation Electronic Silent Auction Fundraiser. The electronic silent auction will be open 24/7 during beginning July 20 – July 30 to AGD’s 40,000 members, as well as their friends and families, via smartphones. Several auction items will be displayed on-site at AGD2022. Use your smartphone, iPad, or laptop to bid on hotel getaway packages, state-of-the-art dental equipment and dental instruments, CE courses, artwork, jewelry, and more.
