Refer a Classmate

Every Voice Counts! A growing Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) means enhanced student member benefits and services, a larger network of dentist experts to consult once you graduate, and a stronger collective voice advocating on behalf of your future profession.

Help maximize the AGD’s growth by recruiting new student members through the 2012–2013 Refer a Classmate program. As thanks for your efforts, we'll give you fun rewards and special member recognition, as well as the chance to win additional prizes and a Top Recruiter title!

Get Started
Find your voice! Brush up on general information
about the AGD and our student member benefits, download recruitment materials and membership applications to distribute to your classmates, and encourage them to join the AGD today! Be sure to include your name in the "Referral Information" box on each application that you hand out so that you receive credit once your classmates join.

Short on time? Submit your referrals to us instantly via the online referral form, or email your classmates’ names, email addresses, and phone numbers to refer@agd.org. We’ll contact your classmates for you and tell them everything they need to know about AGD student membership.

Plus, don’t forget that each additional new dental student member you recruit to the AGD moves you one step closer to winning our monthly recruiter prize drawings, the Speak Up, Sign Up mid-program gift card raffle, and the Top Recruiter title and grand prize—the reward possibilities are endless!

Monthly Recruiter Prize Drawings
For each new dental student member you recruit to the AGD each month, you'll receive one entry into that month's recruiter prize drawing. At the end of each month, we'll select one lucky recruiter at random to win their choice of a $50 gift card or a credit toward their next year's AGD membership dues renewal (up to a $50 value). The more new members you recruit each month, the better your chances of winning!

Speak Up, Sign Up Mid-Program Gift Card Raffle
Recruit new dental student members between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, 2012, for the chance to win a $200 Amazon.com gift card good toward textbooks, a Kindle, and more. For each new member you recruit, you’ll receive one raffle entry and improve your odds of winning!

Top Recruiter Title and Grand Prize
Recruit the most new dental student members between May 1, 2012, and April 30, 2013, to earn this year's Top Student Recruiter title and grand prize—a 16GB Apple iPad!

What’s more, your individual recruitment efforts throughout the school year will also directly contribute to your local AGD constituent’s goal of earning its own Top Recruiter title and prize. At the end of the program year, the constituent with the highest student market share in each of three recruiter categories will be named a Top Constituent Recruiter of Students and winner of $500 in Lunch & Learn funds, which it can use to host a student event at your dental school.

Rules & Eligibility
Listen up for the rules!

1.
The 2012–2013 Refer a Classmate program runs May 1, 2012, through April 30, 2013, for all members recruiting new dental students. Applications and dues payments for new members must be received and processed on or before April 30, 2013, to qualify.* Those processed after April 30, 2013, will be applied toward the 2013–2014 Refer a Classmate program.

*Please keep in mind that mailed applications and payments may take as many as three weeks to fully process. For fastest processing, the AGD recommends faxing applications and credit card payments to 312.335.3443. Should you choose to mail applications and payments to AGD Headquarters, we strongly encourage you to postmark all materials no later than April 5, 2013, to guarantee credit in the 2012–2013 Refer a Classmate program.
2.
A new member is officially credited to you once his or her application and dues payment have been fully processed. To receive credit for a new member, your name and city/state must appear in one of the following: the “Referral Information” box on the paper application; Step 2 of the online application; on the online referral form; in an email sent to refer@agd.org or via verbal communication to an AGD Membership Services Representative at the time that the new member joins over the phone.
3.
To be considered for prizes, rewards, recognition, and a Top Recruiter title in the Refer a Classmate program, each new member you recruit must be enrolled as a predoctoral student in an accredited dental school in the United States or Canada.
4.
All AGD constituents in which one or more accredited dental schools is located are eligible for the Top Constituent Recruiter of Students title and prize. Eligible constituents are then divided into one of three recruiter categories based on the number of local dental schools available: Category 1—one dental school; Category 2—two dental schools; Category 3—three or more dental schools.

The constituent with the highest student market share in each recruiter category at the end of the program year will be determined the Top Recruiter. Final market shares will be based on the total number of AGD student members in each constituent as of April 30, 2013, versus total dental school enrollment figures reported in the most recent edition of the American Dental Association's (ADA) Survey of Dental Education (Table 14).
5.
All prizes and rewards may be used by the winner or given as a gift to another AGD student member or constituent.
6.
Program rules and prizes are subject to change by the AGD. Any changes made to the program will be posted to this page.

Tips For Successful Recruiting
Save time! Search the AGD Membership Directory first to see which of your classmates are members already.
Use social media! Share AGD YouTube videos and testimonials with as many classmates as you can, and tell your classmates to become fans of the AGD on Facebook.
Make it personal! Tell your classmates why you joined the AGD and explain how your membership has already helped you, both throughout your education and as you prepare for your dental career.
Combine efforts! Recruit as many classmates as possible to ensure that your local AGD constituent wins the Top Constituent Recruiter of Students title and prize—funds toward hosting a student event at the dental school of their choice.
