Student Member Benefits
The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) has information and resources specific to the needs of dental students. From advice to discounts, the AGD can help guide you through dental school and get you on your way to a successful career!
Student Continuing Education
AGD student members can get an early start on the road to lifelong learning by earning as many as 50 hours of continuing education (CE) lecture credit before graduation. After graduation, we'll apply that credit toward your requirements for the prestigious
AGD Fellowship Award (FAGD), which offers instant credibility and distinction through quality CE! Find FAGD-approved CE courses outside of your dental school curriculum by searching the
AGD CE Directory, attending the
AGD Annual Meeting & Exhibits, and joining a local, constituent-run
FellowTrack program. Plus, further your education by pursuing a postdoctoral residency program and receive additional CE hours toward your Fellowship upon completing an accredited one- or two-year program!
Student Transition Manual
Transitioning into your dental career isn’t easy. That’s why the AGD partnered with Dentist’s Advantage and the AGD Foundation to create our student transition manual,
You’ve Graduated, Now What? This manual provides you with instant access to practice management tips you may not have learned in dental school, such as goal setting, financial planning, and marketing, along with printable worksheets to keep you on track. Members can
download the student manual for FREE today!
Volunteer Leadership Opportunities
Students can get more involved in the AGD by volunteering for local and national student leadership positions, recruiting their classmates to join, launching AGD programs at their dental schools, hosting student events, and more. Contact us at students@agd.org to learn more about opportunities in your area.

Plan ahead for your new dental career with postgraduate practice management resources from the AGD! From insurance contract analysis services and patient education materials to patient referral and communication services, the AGD has everything you need to map out your path to success!

In addition, AGD members John Gammachia, DMD, FAGD, and Ric Crowder, DDS, share their experiences of running a general dental practice in the AGD blog, The Daily Grind. You’ll also find plenty of online learning opportunities to supplement your current curriculum and get a jump on graduation by starting your job search at the AGD Career Center. Post your résumé or Curriculum Vitae online for employers who are seeking general dentists just like you!
