Description

This course reviews the history, current products, trends, latest innovations and potential for future advancements of dental bonding agents. The similarities and differences between the types and applications of dentin bonding systems will be explained, followed by clinical scenarios and indications for which specific types of bonding agents are proven to be most effective. The common bonding agents and their components will be evaluated, the chemical composition will be discussed, specific monomers will be explored, and glass ionomer composition and properties will be briefly discussed as a comparison for reference. The course will wrap up with emerging products to include bioactive restorative materials, self-adhesive resins and potential replacement monomers for 10-MDP.

Speaker Bio  

Maj. Michael Struthers, USAF, DMD, MS, graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Dental Medicine before completing an advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD)-1 program in Omaha, Nebraska. He spent five years in full-time military service before adding some private practice experience to his resume. He recently completed an AEGD-2 program and now teaches at the AEGD-1 program at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. He is a proud father to three rambunctious kids and hopes his wife will still love him after his third deployment next month.
