   Volunteer for Leadership

The Washington Academy of General Dentistry (WAGD) is always looking for great leaders.

Volunteering for a leadership position within the only organization exclusively dedicated to general dentists’ interests and professional needs is an excellent way to give back to your profession—while gaining incredible leadership skills.

Volunteer Opportunities:
The following list briefly explains the different types of volunteer leadership from Officers and Committee members to Public information officers. The Washington Academy of General Dentistry (WAGD) needs your leadership skills.

WAGD President-Elect:

Responsibilities:

 Assume the duties of the president in his or her absence.

 Assume the position of president at the end of the president’s term (president-elect only).

Serve and supervise all constituent committees.

Attend state meetings and other important functions.

Handle special assignments or projects as directed by the president.

 Attend the AGD annual meeting and leadership conferences, if possible.

Ensure an orderly transition and transfer all constituent records to the incoming president-elect or vice president.

 

WAGD Constituent Committees

It is the responsibility of all committee chairs to design programs and activities to carry out the objectives of the constituent’s strategic plan.

 

Only an active, emeritus, or retired member in good standing of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is eligible to serve on constituent committees.

 

Responsibilities:

Develop work plans that will allow the committee to effectively and efficiently discharge its responsibilities for the year.

Develop agendas and conduct committee meetings.

Prepare and present reports on committee activities.

Communicate the committee decisions of the board.

Where appropriate, guide the committee in proposing products and services that will further the goals and objectives of the constituent.

 

Open Opportunities to serve on a WAGD Committees include:

PACE, Editoral, Continuing Education, Membership, Public Information, Dental Care, and Legislative Affairs.

WAGD CDE MASTERTRACK       The Washington Academy of General Dentistry is offering a program that will showcase courses in at least 16 different disciplines. This 5-year program will give each participant over 600 hours!!! (with protocol) of PACE approved continuing education credits, of whi ch 400 hours are participation hours. For those dentists seeking a well balanced interdisciplinary education, this program will answer that call. For those dentists seeking  a Fellowship or Mastership in the AGD, this program contains all of the requirements to achieve these status. Whether a member of AGD or not, this program offers any dentist the perfect opportunity to educate themselves and make lifelong professional friendships.

 

  

HOW IT WORKS

 

There will be four sessions per year, each consisting of a 28+ credit. WAGD will freeze your yearly tuition ($6,000.00 for AGD members, $6,500.00 for non-members) for each of the remaining four years. Tuition increases for next year’s class of twenty are to be expected. Each additional class will run concurrently with yours. There will be no refunds or transfers of tuition for any missed sessions. Register now and become one of the “elite twenty” of the inaugural class of 2013.
