The Navy AGD Constituent was recognized at the 2009 annual session with the Continuing Education Award of Excellence, Honorable Mention for the Constituent of the Year Award and Honorable Mention for the Public Information Award of Excellence.

Navy Dental Corps Officers showed excellent representation at the 2009 Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) meeting 08-12 July in Baltimore, MD.  RDML Richard Vinci was our guest speaker and gave the State of the Dental Corps Update to more than 40 Navy Dental Officers at our luncheon on Saturday.

The annual Fellowship Review Course was once again given by Region 17 to rave reviews.  CAPT Don Worm, CAPT Larry Williams, and CDR Joe Molinaro were the Navy presenters.  The Navy also provided speakers for the review course for the American Board of Genral Dentistry (ABGD) that included CAPT Steven Marinelli, CAPT Don Worm, CAPT Larry Williams, CDR Joe Molinaro, and CDR Randy Walker.  A big thank you to all our presenters! 

Navy Dental Corps Officers were also awarded Fellowship and Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.  These awards are the culmination of hundreds of hours of lecture and hands-on continuing education and comprehensive examination.  Awardees included:

The always popular Region 17 social was held on Thursday evening with a spectacular venue and incredible turn out.  Special thanks to CAPT Don Worm for coordinating the social and our Navy luncheon on Saturday.  A second career as a wedding planner when he reitres is in CAPT's future!

Your Navy AGD Officers and Delegates participated in the annual House of Delegates debating on issues that included patient access to care, advocacy for the dental profession and also for the patients we serve.  For the first time the AGD Foundation sponsored a 5K Run Fundraiser.  Our Navy team of CDR Loren Masuoka, CDR Joe Molinaro, nad LT Laura Carl took 2nd place behind our Army rivals.

In the Sping of 2010, elections will be held for the positions of President-Elect, Treasurer, and Secretary.  Please email CDR Jan Delory-Lytle, our President, at janet.delorey-lytle@med.navy.mil if you have any questions about the postions and are interested in running.  The new officers will be installed at the end of the 2010 meeting that is being held 07-11 July in New Orleans.
