President’s Message
Another year has come and gone.We all start the New Year, making resolutions. Personally, I do not do this. I think it is too easy to just say, “Oh, it was just a New Year’s resolution”, and then break it.I do take this time of year to assess my life and see if there are areas where I can do better. The same is true for our Arkansas AGD.
We had a great last year. We have a revitalized Board. We have new Board members who are stepping up to lead our group in the future. Several of our new Board members attended the AGD Leadership Conference in Chicago. This is exciting to me.
We continue to have new members join the Arkansas AGD. I love meeting these new members and watching them grow with our group. We have also had some GREAT C.E. courses this past year.AGD continues to put on the best C.E. courses around. We allshould be proud.
We have a fantastic MasterTrack going. If you haven’t come to a MasterTrack meeting, then you are truly missing out. The camaraderie is what I love. That is something that I always felt was lacking in most C.E. course. With MasterTrack, we share ideas. Sometimes, we even question the Speaker on his methods and often times, I see the light bulb go on above the Speakers head and he says, “Wow, I never thought of it that way”.So, even the Speakers are taking away something from MasterTrack. MasterTrack is FUN. Can you believe that?Well, it is!
As we enter a new year, we have a new Sheriff in town (Barak Obama). With a change in Presidential Administration there will be many changes in our government. Many of these changes will affect how we practice. Many will affect our pocket book. Some of these changes may be good and some may not be good for Dentistry. The AGD will be looking at these changes and doing our best to protect the interest of the General Dentist.
The Arkansas AGD needs everyone’s support. I ask you to remain active in our Academy. Work toward your Fellowship or your Mastership. Attend C.E. course put on by our Academy. Join MasterTrack. Come to Board meetings. Get involved!!
I look forward to the upcoming year and I hope you do also. Have a great 2009!
Tracy Windham, DDS, FAGD
