2001 ($50,000 total awarded)

The Academy of General Dentistry Foundation (AGDF) granted the Academy of General Dentistry $50,000 to fund the development, production, and distribution of materials that will assist in educating physicians about the relationship between oral health and total health, as well as what they need to know about dentistry in order to better service the public in keeping with the recommendations of the Surgeon General’s Report on Oral Health America.

The AGDF expanded its continuing education course sponsorship. Courses about prevention and treatment of the oral complications of cancer therapy were held in conjunction with the following dental meetings in 2001:

  • Southwest Dental Conference
  • The University of California San Francisco Dental School Alumni Association
  • Federation of Special Care Organizations in Dentistry
  • Texas Academy of General Dentistry, in conjunction with the Lance Armstrong Foundation Health and Sports Expo
  • The California Dental Association Spring Scientific Session

The AGD Foundation was incorporated in 1972, in the state of Illinois, and is exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, as a vehicle to accept tax deductible contributions for the purpose of supporting charitable and education programs.
