System Requirements
- Personal computer system or laptop with either Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP
- An available UBS Port
- Internet access
- Windows Notepad or Microsoft Word or Excel
Items to be aware of
- Program providers must maintain permanent records of course information and attendees.
- Multiple courses –
Data from one course must be downloaded from the scanner before attempting to record data for another course.
Or multiple scanners will need to be used; one course per scanner.
- Scanner memory will hold up to 500 codes.
- Scanner memory is non-volatile; data is not erased if battery power is interrupted.
- Internet access will only be needed to upload the data to AGD, not during the course or while using the scanner.
- LED indicator provides visual confirmation of “Good Scan”, “Memory Full”, and “Upload Complete”.
- Audible indicator provides audio confirmation of “Good Scan”, Memory Full” and “Upload Complete”.
- AGD does not recommend disabling this function.

How to install & configure the software
Configure the Flicware Wedge Software
The Flicware Wedge Software will need to be configured to work with AGD’s online interface.
Reference the Flicware User Manual during the configuration process.
- Start the Flicware Wedge Software.
- Select Tools to access the submenu.
- Select Options from the submenu.
- Select the Program Control tab.
- Select Always confirm and Active on Start-up.
- Click OK to apply the configuration settings.
- Start the Flicware Wedge Software.
- Select Tools to access the submenu.
- Select Format from the submenu.
- Select 0, zero, characters to strip.
- Select Enter characters to append, (first character).
- Select None characters to append, (second character).
- Click OK to apply the configuration settings.
- Close the Flicware Wedge Software.
- Installation and configuration is now complete.
How to capture data from the scanner when used in Batch mode
These instructions are for the providers that will not have access to a laptop at the course location. The scanner will store the data to memory for capture at a later time, which must be done before another course is recorded to the scanner.
These users will need to maintain a hard copy of course attendees.
These instructions are to be followed only after the scanner driver software and Flicware Wedge Software has been installed and configured.
The following instructions must be followed or you will loose the data.
- Make sure the PC or Laptop is powered on and Windows is completed loaded.
- Make sure there are no other programs running.
- Using the coil cable supplied with the scanner, plug in the USB connector to a USB port on the PC or Laptop.
NOTE: You must use the same USB port that was used during the installation and configuration of the Flicware Wedge Software and scanner driver software. If the same USB port is not used an error message will be displayed.
- DO NOTplug-in the stereo plug connector to the PC or Laptop, at this time.
- Start the Flicware Wedge Software.
- Verify that the Flicware Wedge Software is active.
- Start either Windows Notepad or Microsoft Word or Excel.
NOTE: Only Windows Notepad and Microsoft Word or Excel will be supported.
- The application needs be the front or active window on the PC or Laptop screen.
Using Microsoft Excel
Place the cursor in cell A1.
Using Microsoft Word or Windows Notepad
Place the cursor in the upper left corner of a blank document.
*This is very IMPORTANT; placing the cursor in a specific location indicates where the data will be inserted on the application.
Double-check to make sure that.
- The USB connector on the coiled scanner cable is connected to the PC or Laptop
- The Flicware "wedge" Software is active
- And the Windows based application is the front or active window on the PC or Laptop screen.
- Plug-in the stereo plug connector to the scanner
NOTE: Once the scanner is connected it will immediate upload all of the data from the scanner memory to the application.
- The scanner with make a distinct noise and the data will appear in a column reading top to bottom.
NOTE: If the
scanner is plugged in and only one line of
data is uploaded, when more should be
present, unplug and replug the scanner
and the upload will complete successfully.

- Save as a file to the PC or Laptop, this file will be utilized to provide roster information to AGD via the internet.
How to capture data from the scanner when used in Tethered mode
These instructions are for the providers with access to a laptop at the course location. Providers are able to capture data from the scanner in real time.
These instructions are to be followed only after the scanner driver software and Flicware Wedge Software has been installed and configured.
- Make sure the Laptop is powered on and Windows is completed loaded.
- Make sure there are no other programs running.
- Using the coil cable supplied with the scanner, plug in the USB connector to a USB port on the Laptop.
NOTE: You must use the same USB port that was used during the installation and configuration of the Flicware Wedge Software and scanner driver software. If the same USB port is not used a communication error message will be displayed.
- Plug-in the stereo plug connector to the PC or Laptop.
- Start the Flicware Wedge Software.
- Verify that the Flicware Wedge Software is active.
- Start either Windows Notepad or Microsoft Word or Excel.
NOTE: Only Windows Notepad and Microsoft Word or Excel will be supported.
- The application needs be the front or active window on the Laptop screen.
Using Microsoft Excel
