AGD CE Scanning Solution Details

The new, improved continuing education (CE) recording method is now available from Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Headquarters. This scanner-based technology is available to AGD constituents and PACE-approved providers. It utilizes the new bar codes found on the AGD membership cards. The bar code allows AGD members, PACE providers, and constituents to scan the cards and easily record member information at CE sessions.

This new electronic CE recording method uses a "Flic" scanner to capture the information from the bar codes found on AGD membership cards. This basic scanner can hold up to 500 scans at any given time, giving PACE-approved program providers a solution that is more efficient and cost-effective. The scanners are available for $179 each (U.S. dollars), plus shipping and handling. More information on where to purchase the scanners, required computer specifications, and directions on how to use the new technology can be found at http://dev.agd.org/education/pace/.

In addition to the improved, electronic CE recording method, there is an online interface that allows PACE-approved program providers to provide AGD Headquarters with the membership ID numbers captured by the scanners. Submit a Roster
AGD PACE-approved program providers are encouraged to use this new technology, but it is not required.

The paper course record forms have been eliminated. CE credits can be submitted using the AGD Web site at http://www.agd.org/education/pace/providers. AGD PACE-approved program providers may also mail their CE credits to the AGD Membership Services Center at 211 E. Chicago Ave, Ste. 900, Chicago, IL 60611.
