Speaker Biography Dr. Archer-Festa has been a practicing Dentist for 30 years. Currently her primary responsibility is as an Associate Professor at New York City College of Technology, Department of Dental Hygiene in Brooklyn, New York. She is the Dental Hygiene Clinic coordinator for the 2nd year clinics in the Fall semester and responsible for Cariology and principles and strategies for implementation related to CaMBRA. Additionally she has extensive knowledge in the management of medically complex patients in the dental setting. She is a clinical consultant with the New York/New Jersey Aids education and training center and has strong foundational knowledge about the HIV disease process. She has been invited to lecture at the Greater New York Dental Meeting as well as Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Dental and Dental Hygiene Associations. She has published related to the topic of Hepatitis C. She completed her 2 year general practice dental residency at Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in East New York, Brooklyn and has maintained an interest in strategies to help underserved communities gain knowledge about oral health care and prevention strategies. To that goal she is currently involved in a grant entitled: “The Nurse-Mentor Model Pilot Project for High Risk Children and Families”. This is a collaborative effort with the College’s nursing program and her role is to develop the oral health care component. |
