Speaker Biography
Edward J. Swift, Jr., D.M.D., M.S, Professor and Chair, Department of Operative Dentistry,
University of North Carolina, School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill. Dr. Swift is actively involved in dental
materials research, particularly in the areas of dentin bonding and other aspects of adhesive and
esthetic dentistry. He has published over 170 journal articles and has written eight textbook chapters.
Dr. Swift is a member of the editorial boards of Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry,
Operative Dentistry, Journal of Dentistry, and American Journal of Dentistry and is the Associate
Editor for the Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. He maintains a part—time intramural practice devoted to
restorative and esthetic dentistry.
